David Farland is a New York Times bestselling author with more than 50 books to his credit. He's also the lead judge for the world's largest writing competition and editor of the annual L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers and Illustrators of the Future anthology, which has hit #1 in science fiction for the past three years in a row. Dave has worked on such major properties as Star Wars and The Mummy, and in 1999 he set the Guinness Record for the world's largest book signing for the book A Very Strange Trip. Dave has worked as a video game designer and scripter and as a Hollywood greenlighting analyst. He is perhaps best known for fantasy series The Runelords, but has also helped promote and train many other bestselling writers. While working with Scholastic years ago, he was asked to help discover a new book to push big and chose the novel Harry Potter. Shortly afterward he helped discover Brandon Sanderson, Stephenie Meyer, Brandon Mull, and several others. Nearly 100 of his past students have gone on to become New York Times bestsellers. In his spare time, he likes to gasp for breath and vegetate.
